Bisht (Clothing)

In regards to one of my scenes, I had a character from the Islam faith. It is here that I researched the clothing that people from Islam/Middle Eastern countries would wear. As I feel by capturing the small details of people from different cultures/lives in my script I can create a well developed/rounded world, around the main characters and story of the series.

The Brexit outcome- How it affects the script

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32810887

Here is a link to the bbc news article discussing the outcomes of Brexit. Covers the statistics of the Brexit vote, as well as the resignation of PM David Cameron to the Temp PM Theresa May.

What this means for the script?
In terms of the outcomes of Brexit I will look into the extremist views of the outcome, as well as how things could of been treated differently.
PM resignation- The PM resignation will be dealt with differently in my script due to the characters present within my story and the themes I want to bring across. As such the Temp PM will be a man, Nigel Pele, who is a very right-wing viewpoint.

Brexit- What happens now?

Here are the major dates of the lead up to Brexit and what will come after. This is to maintain a secure and thorough timeline, during the creation of the script.

April 15th: Referendum campaign Kicks off
May 5th: Elections across Britain

June US airstrike on Syrian soldiers

Here is some more background research for my script:

A US-led air attack in eastern Syria that killed dozens of government troops fighting so-called Islamic State has endangered an already shaky ceasefire deal, Russia says.

Russia says at least 62 Syrian troops were killed in the Deir al-Zour strikes on Saturday.

The US has expressed “regret” for the “unintentional loss of life”.

Syria says it has lost a warplane in the area, which so-called Islamic State (IS) said it had shot down.

The BBC’s Lina Sinjab, reporting from Beirut, says it is rare for the Syrian government to acknowledge losses caused by IS, and the announcement may be intended to draw attention to the consequences of the US-led air strike.

A Syrian army source said the attack had allowed IS to gain ground in the area around the Syrian airbase, but that Syrian forces had regained most positions on the hilltop nearby with the help of Syrian and Russian air support.

The attack put “a very big question mark” over the truce’s future, said Russia’s UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin.

IS launches counter attack in Manbij

The Islamic State group launched a counter-attack against fighters trying to capture the Syrian city of Manbij on Monday, inflicting heavy casualties on the U.S.-backed forces, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the militants said.

The monitor said the militants won back three villages south of the besieged city in a surprise assault against fighters from the U.S.-backed Syria Democratic Forces. At least 28 SDF fighters were killed.

Syria attacks- Research

In terms of my story I will set the tone of the show, by introducing some of the themes such as death, destruction, straight off the bat. I have decided to take this approach to writing my script as I feel it sets the tone and introduces/focuses on the main character whilst still exploring many elements of my narrative. It will also set the time in which my script takes place.

US airstrikes on a Syrian village have killed at least 73 civilians, a majority of them women and children, activists say, in the deadliest coalition attack on non-combatants since the start of the bombing campaign against the Islamic State.

The bombing was part of a two-month push to seize the town of Manbij, a strategic centre, key to any future advance on Islamic State’s de facto capital, Raqqa. Activists had warned of high civilian casualty rates from airstrikes in Manbij even before the latest airstrike.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, activists described coalition aircraft hitting a cluster of houses in the village of Tokkhar, where nearly 200 people had gathered to seek shelter as the frontline shifted towards their homes. Most of those inside were killed or injured.

“The death toll is 117. We could document [the identity of] 73 civilians including 35 children and 20 women. The rest of the dead bodies are charred, or have been reduced to shreds,” said Adnan al-Housen, an activist from Manbij.

He said around 50 injured survivors were rushed for treatment to the border town of Jarablus, where they provided details about the attack.

Bush Speech- Opening Scene

Here is a segment of the Bush speech back in 2003, I am using this as a basis for my plot line and how the events of Bush’s war with Iraq have created conflict.

“Recognizing the threat to our country, the United States Congress voted overwhelmingly last year to support the use of force against Iraq. America tried to work with the United Nations to address this threat because we wanted to resolve the issue peacefully. We believe in the mission of the United Nations. One reason the UN was founded after the second world war was to confront aggressive dictators, actively and early, before they can attack the innocent and destroy the peace.” – President Bush 2003

Avaliable from: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/mar/18/usa.iraq [online] Accessed on: 2nd December 2016

I will use this in my script, as a transition of the opening scene from the events of the Iraq War, fueling and leading up to the attacks in Syria.

Syria Article- Why everything could be wrong.

I will be using this website as a basis for my script in regards to the character development of Emma Truman, journalist to undercover journalist.

Available from: http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/syria-aleppo-iraq-mosul-isis-middle-east-conflict-assad-war-everything-youve-read-could-be-wrong-a7451656.html Accessed on: 2nd December 2016

As my script will be based around the conspiracy of government and corruption, this will be subtlety referenced within my script.

The Plot – Basic (so far)

In terms of story for my script, this is the initial plot for my current story:

July, 2016. Where threats of Brexit, Cultural relations and nuclear warfare are at a prime high. Journalist, Emma Truman is sent to Syria to report the atrocities that follow the attacks in Syria. After reporting a couple of weeks in Syria, Emma returns to London, only to discover her boyfriend, Talbot Darnell has been killed. Following what seems to be, a police/government conspiracy Emma discovers the truth of Talbot’s occupation and decides to pay a visit to his works. Here Emma learns the truth of her “visions” and a post-apocalyptic time (near/immediate future) are running parallel.

Coming to grips with this threat of WW3, it is up to Emma to use her gift to find and put an end to the corruption, in order to save the world, from humanities inevitable destruction.
